Liebt ihr mich?&nbsp;Liebt ihr mich?<sup>16<\/sup><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-15582a04c6c2a9d1948b549f68796687\" style=\"font-size:17px\">Eine Frage, die sich jeder Mensch stellt. I had buried them very deep. I had never listened to Bessie Smith in America (in same way that, for years, I would not Touch watermelon), but in Europe she helped to reconcile me being a &#8222;nigger.&#8220;<sup>18<\/sup><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-b14c40439a721637d15ff099a8d1aaac\" style=\"color:#656668;font-size:16px\">Es war Bessie Smith, die mir durch ihren Tonfall und ihre Sprechweise geholfen hat, den Weg zur\u00fcck zur Art und Weise, wie ich selbst gesprochen haben muss, als ich ein schwarzer Junge war, und zu den Dingen, die ich geh\u00f6rt und gesehen und gef\u00fchlt hatte. In Amerika hatte ich Bessie Smith nie geh\u00f6rt(&#8230;), aber in Europa half sie mir, mich damit zu vers\u00f6hnen, ein &lt;N***&gt; zu sein.<sup>14<\/sup><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-59b721b00c8471951f84067a4895312d\" style=\"font-size:16px\"><strong>In dem Roman <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kulturbroad.com\/Literatur\/2025\/01\/18\/james-baldwin-ein-anderes-land\/\">Ein anderes Land<\/a><\/em> erw\u00e4hnte Musiker, Musikerinnen und Songs<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-33928750a608807990ee5685d9fa44b4\" style=\"font-size:17px\"><em>Bessie Smith<\/em> wurde am&nbsp;15. April&nbsp;1894 in&nbsp;Chattanooga<strong>,&nbsp;<\/strong>Tennessee geboren und starb am&nbsp;26. September&nbsp;1937 bei einem Autounfall.<br>Bessie Smith wuchs in bitterarmen Verh\u00e4ltnissen auf. Nach dem fr\u00fchen Tod ihrer Eltern musste sie bereits als Kind zum Familieneinkommen beitragen.<br>Mit ihrer rauen Stimme und den frechen und sexuell offenen Texten wurde die <em>Empress of the Blues<\/em> in den 1920er Jahren die bestbezahlte Bluess\u00e4ngerin. Sie sang von der Liebe und den Schattenseiten ihres Lebens. Manche Lieder waren Eigenkompositionen. Begleitet wurde sie von namhaften Musikern, wie z.B. Louis Armstrong. Mit der Weltwirtschaftskrise endete ihre Karriere. Doch Anfang der 30er Jahre gelang ihr ein Comeback und n\u00e4herte sich zu ihrem Karriereende dem Jazz an.<br>Bessie Smith wurde anonym beerdigt und erst 30 Jahre sp\u00e4ter spendeten ihre ehemalige Angestellte&nbsp;Juanita Green und die S\u00e4ngerin <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kulturbroad.com\/Literatur\/2023\/10\/07\/penelope-bagieu-unerschrocken\/\">Janis Joplin<\/a> einen Grabstein mit der Aufschrift:&nbsp;The Greatest Blues Singer In The World Will Never Stop Singing \u2013 Bessie Smith \u2013 1895\u20131937.&nbsp;<br><em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kulturbroad.com\/Literatur\/2023\/08\/05\/gayl-jones-corredigora\/\">Billie Holiday<\/a><\/em> coverte Songs von Bessie Smith und hat&nbsp;den Blues- und Jazz-Gesang entscheidend beeinflusst.<br>Die Gospel-S\u00e4ngerin <em>Mahalia Jackson<\/em>, auch als <em>Queen of Gospel<\/em> bezeichnet,&nbsp;wurde am 26. Oktober1911&nbsp;in&nbsp;New Orleans, Louisiana geboren, und starb am 27. Januar&nbsp;1972. Auch sie wuchs in \u00e4rmlichen Verh\u00e4ltnissen auf. Ihre Gro\u00dfeltern schufteten noch als Sklaven auf den Baumwollplantagen.<br>Mahalia Jackson sang Gospel, weil sie es als ihre Aufgabe sah, das Wort Gottes zu verbreiten.&nbsp;Sie hat es w\u00e4hrend ihrer gesamten Karriere abgelehnt, weltliche Musik aufzunehmen. Doch wurden ihre Platten auch in Jazzmagazinen besprochen. Auch in Europa begeisterte sie die Zuh\u00f6rer,&nbsp;die sonst nichts mit Gospel anfangen konnten, mit ihrer kr\u00e4ftigen und dunklen Stimme und beeinflusste S\u00e4nger und S\u00e4ngerinnen in der Popmusik. Als das Farbfernsehen 1967 startete, trat sie neben anderen S\u00e4ngern und S\u00e4ngerin im Deutschen Fernsehen auf.<br>Sie sang bei der Amtseinf\u00fchrung John F. Kennedys, bei dem Marsch auf Washington und bei Beerdigung Martin Luther Kings.<br>Obwohl die drei Frauen Jahrzehnte trennen, besitzen sie Gemeinsamkeiten. Es sind starke und selbstbewusste Frauen, die sich in einer von Wei\u00dfen und M\u00e4nnern dominierten Gesellschaft durchsetzten. Vorbilder f\u00fcr viele Menschen und wahrscheinlich auch f\u00fcr James Baldwin. Solange sie auf der B\u00fchne sangen, wurden sie verehrt. Beim Verlassen der B\u00fchne litten sie direkt unter dem Rassismus des wei\u00dfen Amerikas.<br><em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kulturbroad.com\/Literatur\/2022\/09\/18\/elijah-wald-der-blues-eine-kleine-einfuehrung\/\">W.C.Handy<\/a><\/em> wurde am 16. November 1873 in Florence, Alabama geboren und starb am 28. M\u00e4rz 1958.&nbsp;Er war Trompeter, Bandleader und komponierte Blues-Hits. Handy ist nicht der Erfinder des Blues. Er sammelte die traditionelle Musik des S\u00fcdens und von Stra\u00dfenmusikern.<br>Durch ihn gelangte der Blues in den Mainstream und er gilt als der Vater des Blues.&nbsp;Sein 1912 ver\u00f6ffentlichter Memphis Blues gilt als Erstes \u00fcberhaupt ver\u00f6ffentlichtes Bluesst\u00fcck.<br>Mit der Popularit\u00e4t des Jazz wurden viele seiner St\u00fccke zu Jazzstandard. Bessie Smith und Louis Armstrong machten seinen <em>St.Louis Blues<\/em> zu einem ber\u00fchmten Bluesst\u00fcck.&nbsp;<br><em>Charlie Parker<\/em> wurde am 29. August&nbsp;1920 in&nbsp;Kansas City,&nbsp;Kansas geboren und war ein Altsaxophonspieler. Er war bereits seit seiner Jugend von Drogen abh\u00e4ngig und f\u00fchrte ein Leben am Abgrund. Er starb mit nur 34 Jahren am 12. M\u00e4rz 1955 in New York City.<br>Er gilt als Erneuerer des Jazz und pr\u00e4gte mit seinen Interpretationen entscheidend den Bebop. Dieser neue Jazzstil bildete die Grundlage f\u00fcr den Modern Jazz und l\u00f6ste den Swing als Hauptstilrichtung ab. Mit dem Bebop verabschiedete sich der Jazz als reine Unterhaltungsmusik. Anspruchsvolle, l\u00e4ngere Soli und Improvisationen wurden zu Markenzeichen des Bebop.&nbsp;Charlie Parker spielte mit hoher Geschwindigkeit. Der Klang vermittelt das Gef\u00fchl von Hektik und doch enthielt sein Spiel harmonisch komplexe Strukturen.&nbsp;F\u00fcr einige war der Bebop eine Reaktion auf den von &#8222;Wei\u00dfen&#8220; dominierten Swing.<br>Weil seine Spielweise so frei wie der Flug eines Vogels wirkte, hatte er den Spitznamen Bird. Einige seine St\u00fccke beziehen sich auf V\u00f6gel: Yardbird, Ornithology.<br>Parker trat zum letzten Mal am 5.&nbsp;M\u00e4rz 1955 in dem nach ihm benannten New Yorker Jazzclub&nbsp;<em>Birdland&nbsp;<\/em>auf.<br>Die Jazzrock-Formation Weather Report erinnert mit ihrem erfolgreichsten St\u00fcck <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kulturbroad.com\/Literatur\/2023\/03\/10\/wayne-shorter\/\">Birdland<\/a> an diesen Jazzclub.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-d2a89582f83c46a73654c33a9f02f4ab\" style=\"font-size:17px\">12)Rene Aguigah.
